All of our volunteer and career personal undergo training based on the requirements of their individual duties. Basic qualifications include being in good mental and physical health and able to lift at least 125 pounds. Also no one with a criminal conviction is permitted to be on the staff as either a volunteer or career personnel. The following are positions available:

Base Dispatcher

Base Dispatchers must be at last 16 years old. Minimum certifications include Responding to Emergencies (RTE), CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator).

Second Medic

Must be at least 18 years old. Minimum certifications include Responding to Emergencies (RTE), CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator).

First Medic

Must be at least 18 years old. The minimum certification for First Medic is NYS Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Driver

Must be at least 21 years old with: (1) a valid NYS drivers license; (2) no more than one moving violation in the last 18 months; (3) no chargeable accidents; (4) license that has never been revoked or suspended; and (4), approval be the GVAS insurance company. Minimum certifications include Responding to Emergencies (RTE), CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator).

Advanced Life Support

ALS Technicians must be at least 18 years old and must hold a valid Advanced Emergency Medical Technician certificate issued by New York State. In addition they must have a current CPR certification.
